Storyline: Cassie, also known as Cassandra Webb (portrayed by Dakota Johnson) sets off on a quest to safeguard three girls from a powerful foe. Along the way she must confront her past. Uncover the source of her enigmatic superhuman abilities.
Critique: Cassie, a paramedic dedicates her days to saving lives. Growing up in foster care the idea of a family is foreign, to her. She attributes her mothers daring spirit as the reason for their journey into the Peruvian Amazon in pursuit of a mystical spider venom with healing properties all while pregnant with Cassie. Flash forward to adulthood a near death experience alters Cassies reality as she unlocks her gift of foreseeing events. Like any hero Cassie is committed to using her powers for good. However still grappling with her capabilities she becomes entangled in a mission to shield three girls from a lethal adversary.

The plot delves into Dakota Johnsons evolution into the Marvel superhero ‘Madame Webb’ within Sonys Spider Man Universe (SSU), in a manner.
Director S. J. Clarkson skillfully navigates this by maintaining an uncomplicated storyline, a positive. However this superhero thriller struggles to exceed expectations serving more as an introduction, to Madame Webbs abilities. The script falls short in showcasing Madame Webbs powers leading to a buildup of tension and predictable chase sequences. The action scenes vary from satisfying to underwhelming sticking to the cliches without breaking ground. There is also an abundance of Pepsi Cola placements during the intense climax.
Dakota Johnson delivers a performance, as the superwoman but the uninspired writing fails to fully explore her potential. Nevertheless her striking blue eyes make her a character that viewers can easily support. The upcoming superwomen portrayed by Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor and Isabela Merced embody stereotypes. The film offers a twist with the character depicted as affluent and spoiled while the two white characters are portrayed as less privileged individuals. Tahar Rahims portrayal of Ezekiel Sims, a power individual lacks depth with no backstory or occupation provided.
The way they try to bring in a family connection, with Cassies coworker O’Neil (played by Mike Epps) and his pregnant sister in law Mary Parker (portrayed by Emma Roberts) seems lacking.
Overall ‘Madame Web’ doesn’t leave a lasting impact on the superhero category presenting more of a tepid start than an exhilarating phase, in an already bustling universe.
